Mitad Del Mundo!

Separate post so y'all don't get bored with me. Our last day, we needed to stay occupied. Kids were whiny, wouldn't stop talking about McDonalds, etc.

So, back to the Hop On Bus to go to Mitad Del Mundo (the monument for the equator). There is so much there that I do recommend a whole day if you are adults or do not have kids under 15. We also went to a volcanic crater: Palulahua. Unfortunately with the fog, we could not see the crater at all. If people have time, the pics online look gorgeous so save a day trip!

Mitad Del Mundo City is a conglomeration of museums, monuments, demonstrations, shops, restaurants. The whole shebang, really.

We had a great mixto frittata of seafood to share in the main square for lunch, then headed to 'the line', aka the symbolic location of the Ecuador. This is where you are supposed to be a tourist and keep hopping over the line or something. The rest of the tour involved traditional huts, trying to balance an egg on a needle at the equator, and other hisotrical tidbits.

We then found the beer. There is a brewery at the middle of the earth and the white ale is just as good as any belgian you might find!

Lastly, I had promised the kids could visit the chocolate museum and factory to end the experience.

On arriving back to Quito, we had enough time for a stop in at stupid McDonalds. Gross.

Stay tuned for the GALAPAGOS!
